Nanam is a restaurant at 178 Hurstmere Road, Takapuna, Auckland 0622. This page explains what personal information we collect through nanam.co.nz, why we collect it, who we share it with and what you can do about it. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect and why

When you book a table. Bookings are handled by ResDiary. You give them your name, phone number, email address, party size and any notes such as allergies. We use this to hold your table, to contact you if something changes and to record dietary requirements.

When you send an enquiry. Our function and contact forms collect your name, email address, phone number and your message. The function form also collects the type of event, the date and time you want and how many guests. We use this to answer you and to plan your event.

When you order online or buy a voucher. We collect your name, email address, phone number, delivery or collection details and what you ordered. Card payments are processed by Stripe. Your full card number is never sent to us or stored on our website.

When you join our mailing list. We collect your email address and your name if you give it. Our list is run through Mailchimp. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link and you can use it at any time.

When you simply visit the site. Like most websites, ours records technical information automatically: your IP address, your browser and device, which pages you looked at and where you came from. This comes from cookies and similar tools and is used to understand how the site is used and to show relevant advertising.

The third parties our website uses

These companies receive some of your information so that parts of our website work. Each has its own privacy policy.

ResDiary, for table bookings
Stripe, for card payments
Mailchimp, for our mailing list
Google, for Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and reCAPTCHA, which protects our forms from spam
Meta, for the Facebook and Instagram pixel, used to measure and target advertising
Metricool, for website and social media reporting
SiteGround, which hosts the website

Some of these companies store information on servers outside New Zealand, including in Australia, the European Union and the United States. We only use providers that commit to protecting personal information to a standard comparable to the Privacy Act 2020.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them to keep your shopping cart working, to remember preferences, to measure how the site is used and to support advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block them, the shop and some other parts of the site may not work properly.

How long we keep it

We keep booking and enquiry records for as long as we need them to run the business and to answer questions about past events, and order records for seven years because tax law requires it. Mailing list details are kept until you unsubscribe. We delete what we no longer need.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, and ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Email eat@nanam.co.nz and we will respond within 20 working days. We may need to confirm your identity first.

Keeping your information safe

Our website runs over a secure connection, access to our systems is limited to people who need it, and payment details are handled by Stripe rather than by us. No system is perfect, but if something goes wrong that could seriously harm you, we will tell you and we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first at eat@nanam.co.nz so we can put it right. If you are still unhappy you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or on 0800 803 909.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we collect or use personal information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
